  • Location: Baltimore, MD
  • Specs: 61,000 SF auditorium and academic building
  • Partners: Ziger Snead; Maryland Institute College of Art; The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company

This striking auditorium and academic building completed for Maryland Institute College of Art is post-tensioned, cast-in-place concrete featuring an exposed steel-framed atrium and an exterior enclosed in glass. Because the footprint increases with the height of the structure, sloped columns and increasingly long cantilevered slabs were required. The building garnered an ACI “Excellence in Concrete,” AIA of Baltimore “Grand Design Award,” and Building Congress & Exchange’s “Craftsmanship Award.”
