FutureCare Prince George’s County Post-Acute

Morabito Consultants provided structural engineering design services for FutureCare Prince George’s Post-Acute, a 150-bed skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation center located in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The project was designed to respond to challenging site topography, with the building integrated into a hillside to present as a one-story structure at the main entrance elevation while functioning as a two-story facility at the rear.
The structural design incorporates a combination of systems to address both architectural and programmatic requirements, including concrete retaining walls to support grade changes and site integration. Additional framing systems include Hambro composite floor framing, masonry shear walls, steel moment frames, light gauge metal stud exterior walls, and a wood truss roof, providing a balanced solution for strength, economy, and constructability.
Throughout the project, Morabito Consultants supported ongoing design coordination and refinements, including revisions to roof framing systems, structural support for specialized medical equipment, and detailing for site elements such as retaining walls, stair areaways, and masonry screen and blast walls. Additional structural modifications included foundation design adjustments utilizing grade beams and piers, shear key design to improve retaining wall performance, and framing revisions to accommodate evolving architectural layouts and access circulation.
These efforts resulted in a cohesive structural solution that supports the facility’s complex program, integrates with the site, and enhances long-term durability and performance for healthcare use.
