Pepsi Floodwall
Morabito Consultants provided structural engineering services for the evaluation and retrofit of an existing concrete floodwall protecting the Pepsi facility on Union Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland. Updated FEMA floodplain mapping along the Jones Falls required property owners to reassess flood protection measures for existing structures within the designated floodway.
The scope included detailed structural analysis of the existing floodwall to verify its capacity to resist updated flood elevations and increased lateral forces. Morabito Consultants developed retrofit solutions to strengthen floodwall performance under current code requirements, including flood, wind, and related environmental loading conditions.
The upgraded floodwall provides essential flood protection for the site and supports future redevelopment potential, including a proposed residential development planned to replace the existing industrial facility. The project demonstrates Morabito Consultants’ expertise in floodwall evaluation, structural retrofit design, FEMA floodplain response, and resilient infrastructure engineering.
