Morabito Consultants provided demolition support structural engineering services for the Robert F. Kennedy Stadium demolition at 2400 East Capitol Street NW in Washington, DC. Working with Bowen & Kron, Morabito Consultants developed engineering guidance to support the safe and efficient demolition of the existing concrete and steel stadium structure while maintaining stability throughout the demolition sequence.

The scope included analysis of the structural steel upper seating frames in temporary, unbraced conditions created as roof framing, cross beams, decking, seating structure, and precast concrete elements were removed. Morabito Consultants prepared sequencing guidance for staged removal of the upper deck framing and steel frames, including phased crane pick points, frame removal sequences, rigging load information, and stability considerations for different frame groups around the stadium.

Morabito Consultants also performed supporting calculations related to structural weights and overall stability, with demolition drawings identifying crane-assisted removal procedures and conceptual pick-point locations for multiple phases of work. The demolition sequence was developed to provide clear, constructible direction for field execution while helping maintain controlled load paths and structural stability during removal of the upper deck steel framing.
