The expansion for the Sinai Hospital Emergency Department broke ground on Wednesday, September 28th. This 36,600 square foot expansion will more than double the existing space, adding areas for pediatrics, behavioral health, radiology, a new ambulatory wing, and a second story for administration. Future vertical expansions were taken into consideration when designing this project, and as a result, concrete frames are being used. The project also includes a 33,500 square foot renovation that will increase the size of patient rooms and waiting areas. MC has a strong partnership with LifeBridge Health, Sinai Hospital specifically, as we were the structural engineer of record on the Emergency Department expansion in 1996 and have performed numerous projects for the hospital since then. MC is proud to be partnering with Wilmot Sanz and DPR Construction on this project and look forward to construction commencing. Check out this article to learn more!
With hurricane season at its peak, it is important to look at structural integrity. The image above shows the normal deterioration of a structure’s strength over time and when a disaster occurs, structural strength drops dramatically. The image also shows how repair, rehabilitation, and retrofitting can restore and improve a structure’s strength.
MC has been involved in numerous restoration and remediation projects over the years. Check out these links to learn more information on some of the projects we have completed.
