McDonogh Marlene & Stewart Greenbaum Middle School
Morabito Consultants provided structural engineering design services for the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Middle School at McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland. The new approximately 65,000-square-foot academic facility replaced an older middle school building and supports modern, flexible learning environments for middle school students.
The building is framed with a structural steel system featuring composite steel floors supported by wide-flange beams and steel tube columns. Roof construction consists of steel bar joists and light-gauge metal stud trusses supporting metal deck systems, providing an efficient and adaptable structure for classrooms, library, arts, maker spaces, and collaborative learning areas.
Situated on a sloping site, the building presents a two-story presence along the Senior Quad while revealing a third level to the north. The design integrates with adjacent campus structures, connects to the original Finney Building, and maintains compatibility with McDonogh School’s traditional campus architecture while supporting flexible, technology-rich academic programming.
