Miller Watts Stormwater Retaining Walls
Morabito Consultants provided structural engineering services for the Miller Watts Stormwater Management Retaining Walls project in Finksburg, Maryland. The project included design of a concrete segmental block retaining wall system to support stormwater management improvements and achieve required storage volumes on a constrained site.
The retaining wall design included multiple walls, with three walls reaching heights of up to 18 feet. A reinforced concrete grade beam was incorporated to support a portion of the wall system spanning over a new stormwater outlet structure, ensuring proper load transfer, durability, and long-term performance.
Morabito Consultants coordinated with the geotechnical engineer for global stability evaluation and completed structural analysis that addressed site-specific performance demands, seismic considerations, and flood-related forces. The resulting design met and exceeded applicable county and state stormwater management requirements while supporting a resilient stormwater infrastructure solution.
