Morabito Consultants provided structural engineering design services for a new medical office building located across Old Court Road from the main Northwest Hospital campus in Baltimore County, Maryland. The facility consists of three stories of composite steel-framed medical office space supported above a two-level cast-in-place concrete parking structure, creating an efficient and integrated healthcare and parking solution.
The structural system includes composite steel floor framing with concrete slab on metal deck supported by steel columns, combined with reinforced concrete parking levels and first-floor flat plate construction. The design accommodates a variety of architectural features, including a large outdoor terrace on the north side of the building, a prominent entrance canopy, and vertical façade elements such as high parapets and rooftop screen walls that enhance the building’s scale and visual presence.
Morabito Consultants’ work also included coordination of structural systems to support medical office functionality and long-term performance, including robust floor systems and integration with the parking structure below. As structural engineer of record, Morabito Consultants delivered a cohesive design solution that supports both the operational needs of the healthcare facility and the architectural goals of the project.
