The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) is committed to sustainability, and the new Hanover Hill Elementary School exemplifies this. The school is located in the Oxford Square Community, a Howard County “green” neighborhood, and was designed to emphasize natural light, thermal comfort and efficient use of resources. MC provided the structural engineering services for the two-story, 120,000 SF, masonry and steel framed structure built on a parcel adjacent to the Thomas Viaduct Middle School. The school will have a capacity for 788 students in grades K-5. HCPSS is seeking a LEED “Gold” designation for this building.
