Johns Hopkins University Brody Learning Commons
Morabito Consultants provided structural engineering services for Johns Hopkins University Brody Learning Commons, a seven-story academic building and library extension on the Homewood campus in Baltimore, Maryland. The building connects to the existing Milton S. Eisenhower Library and expands campus learning resources with flexible study, classroom, technology, and collaboration spaces.
The post-tensioned concrete structure was designed to integrate with the existing library while maximizing openness, natural light, and circulation. The facility includes academic rooms, technology labs, group study areas, seminar rooms, special collections and preservation spaces, and a café, all organized to support evolving higher education needs.
As the first new construction project on Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood campus to receive LEED Gold certification, Brody Learning Commons reflects a commitment to sustainable campus development, high-performance building systems, daylighting, and student-focused academic environments.
