Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center | Health Sciences Pavilion
Morabito Consultants provided structural engineering and construction administration services for two enclosed pedestrian bridges serving the Anne Arundel Medical Center campus expansion. The signature bridge extends 135 feet across Medical Parkway on a single support column before transitioning through an 18-degree bend and an additional 57-foot span to connect the new Health Science Pavilion with the existing Edwards Pavilion. A second pedestrian bridge links the Health Science Pavilion to the Sajak Pavilion, providing seamless connectivity between major healthcare facilities across the medical campus.
The pedestrian bridges serve the 240,000-square-foot Health Science Pavilion, a cornerstone of the medical center’s campus-wide expansion. The facility was designed as a comprehensive healthcare, education, and administrative hub housing physician offices, outpatient services, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation facilities, women’s health and obstetrics, orthopedic and sports medicine services, and administrative offices. The pavilion also includes the Health Sciences Institute with lecture halls, classrooms, and a 400-seat auditorium, as well as the 5,000-square-foot Center for Simulation to Advance Innovation and Learning, which features simulated operating rooms, surgical training stations, advanced medical simulation technology, and real-time video connections to active hospital operating rooms. Together, the Health Science Pavilion and pedestrian bridge network enhance campus accessibility while supporting patient care, medical education, and healthcare innovation.
