Friends School of Baltimore Performing and Fine Arts Center
Morabito Consultants provided structural engineering design services for the renovation and addition to the Performing and Fine Arts Center at Friends School of Baltimore. The project transformed the existing auditorium and multipurpose space into an enhanced main auditorium and scene shop, supporting expanded performing arts, visual arts, music, dance, and theater programming.
Renovations to the existing auditorium included expanded sloped seating, exposed steel truss framing, suspended catwalks, and improved production infrastructure. A new glass entry pavilion with a cantilevered control room created a distinctive entrance while integrating technical theater functions directly into the building’s architectural expression.
Additional components included a new scene shop, raised plaza, elevated porch, exterior stairs, visual arts classrooms, gallery space, and support areas for backstage operations. The completed renovation provides a state-of-the-art performing and visual arts environment that strengthens campus arts programming while showcasing Morabito Consultants’ experience with school auditorium renovation, theater structural design, glass entry additions, and performance facility upgrades.
