St. Louis Roman Catholic Church
Morabito Consultants provided structural engineering design services for the three-phase construction of the new St. Louis Church campus in Clarksville, Maryland. The phased religious campus development included a new main sanctuary, multi-purpose building, plaza improvements, bell tower, covered walkways, and site enhancements designed to support worship, parish programming, and community gatherings.
Phase I included construction of a 26,500-square-foot main sanctuary designed to accommodate 1,200 parishioners. The worship space features two 2,000-square-foot balconies, requiring careful coordination of structural framing to support elevated seating while preserving clear sightlines, architectural openness, and long-span performance within the sanctuary.
Phase II expanded the campus with an 18,000-square-foot multi-purpose building housing a café, gymnasium, and administrative offices. Phase III completed key campus improvements, including redesign of the main plaza, reconstruction of stairs and walkways, and addition of an approximately 40-foot-tall bell tower integrated into the elevated plaza.
Additional features included covered walkways and breezeways that improved connectivity between buildings and strengthened campus circulation. The work required careful phasing to allow the church to remain operational throughout construction while delivering a cohesive, welcoming place of worship and community activity.
