When developers transformed the former mansion of an industrialist into a luxury boutique hotel, Morabito Consultants executed a complex structural design to bring the building into the 21st century. Originally built in 1889, the historic structure, known as Government House, is located in Baltimore’s Mt. Vernon neighborhood. The design called for a full renovation of the existing structure and the building of a three-story addition at the south end of the building.
The completed project contains a variety of guest rooms, suites, public spaces, a restaurant and a spa. The Ivy maintained the character of the original structure while adding the luxury amenities and structural requirements needed for a modern hotel.
