Elkridge Volunteer Fire Station
- Location: Elkridge, MD
- Specs: 2-story, 34,000 SF, fire station
- Partners: GWWO, Howard County Department of Public Works, Gipe Associates, Northpoint Builders
Population growth and the demands of new, larger equipment rendered the previous Elkridge Volunteer fire station (built in the 1940s) obsolete. Morabito Consultants provided structural design of a new two-story 34,000 SF fire station. The new masonry and steel framed structure includes a large apparatus bay, hose tower, equipment rooms, living space, classroom/training space, office space and a multi-use assembly hall. Portions of the structure were specially designed to accommodate architectural features intended for use by the firefighters in future training exercises.
This project has a green roof and has achieved LEED Silver certification.
